The Nursing and Healthcare professions are crying out for quality staff to manage and cater for the growing demands on the industry. The use of part time and temporary staff is a tradition that sits well within an industry that consistantly battles with cost saving measures imposed by management and whose majority of staff are women who have a desire to combine family commitments with career prospects. Interestingly you would think that job sharing would also be popular and in fact it is not. Some permanent staff even say that increasing numbers of temporary staff lead to employee dissatisfaction within the workplace as it creates a volatile and constantly changing team. This is not the standard perception though and so most employees in the healthcare sector conclude that specifically the government should promote more flexible working hours and family friendly practices to attract and retain the very best staff in the industry.
