The global phenomenon that is Facebook is not only hitting headlines because a young twenty year old American student has made himself a billionaire overnight and possibly upset a few friends in the process……it is also becoming a fascinating recruitment tool.
It has become a hunting ground for recruiters who are always looking for new ways to cut costs and seek new ways of hiring staff in what is one of the most competitive recruitment markets in years. People are signing up to Company Groups on Facebook and recruitment consultants and inhouse recruitment professionals are picking off names to headhunt them direct - knowing exactly where each individual works. If you have not set your security levels correctly either then they get your contact details and educational background too.
If I was one the big 4 accountancy firms then I would seriously consider banning work groups in fear of losing top talent to a market that is increasingly paying over the odds for the chance to increase market share with new employees….
