1,600 temporary jobs are set to be created in the North East of England in a new scheme to support young unemployed people.
The scheme is expected to target young people in an effort to develop their skills and experience in the market allowing them greater capability to develop the fundamentals to build a career.
Each local authority will have a target to achieve, with all temporary jobs to last for at least 6 months.
Set up by the Department of Work and Pensions, the scheme has been created through the government’s Future Jobs Fund.
The fund is specifically targeted at 18-24 year olds who have been unemployed for 12 months or more.
