BT has been chosen to establish its local government headquarters in the region, reports the South Sheilds Gazette. Over a ten year period up to 1,250 jobs will be created after South Tyneside Council chose BT to deliver services from the base at Harton Staithes in South Shields. BT has guaranteed 750 jobs in the first three years, with numbers peaking at over 1,250 over the ten year period.
