The new most common interview question

The most popular interview question has changed recently apparently!

The HR consultancy A&DC has shown that the key competency for employers is knowing how a candidate manages conflicting demands. Six months ago the most popular question focused on stress tolerance but this is no longer the case.

The new most popular interview question is: Describe an occasion where you had a number of conflicting demands on your time. How did you deal with this?

Flexible working hours to be improved

Flexible working is a topical subject at present and the government is to now consult heads of business to discuss ways of dealing with flexible working requests.

This consultation follows the announcement that the government is looking to extend flexible working to parents with children who are 16 and under. This would be a massive step forward for parents who are currently not able to consider the flexible working option.

Do exam results really matter?

With all the recent publication of exam results the question of how impactive these results are is raised yet again. A new survey shows that academic results have made little or no impact on careers!

Monster.co.uk showed that 75% of respondents felt that academic results had not impacted their career. Amazingly only 10% of those surveyed thought that results had been instrumental in getting them to where they are today.
