Queensgate Revival another step closer

The Queensgate Revival project in Huddersfield town centre is another step forward to getting the go ahead with the submission of a planning application to Kirklees Council.

Since announcing their plans for the ‘Queensgate Revival’ project, Kirklees Council have amended the scheme to include a link to Threadneedle’s existing Piazza shopping centre on Princess Alexandra Walk. The project will comprise of 16 unit shops, 100 residential units, a 100-bed hotel and new library, art gallery and information centre, as well as a new market hall.

Wakefield shopping centre expansion

Wakefield’s Moorfield Group’s Ridings shopping centre are extending, they have recently welcomed 20 new retailers, including Bank Fashion, T Mobile, Sports Direct, Esquire’s Café, Newspoint, mobile media company, 3, Partyland and Hair Express. Hundreds of new catering and retail jobs will be created in Wakefield, we will chase the centre and post any vacancies we find on the site.

New City….New jobs….

Plans have been unveiled for a new city in the north of the UK that will have a purpose built business district capable of offering some 30,000 jobs!

Both Leeds and Manchester Councils are said to have been approached in a grand bid to create the largest phase of the growth that the UK has seen since Sheffield experience 73,000 new jobs between 1995 and 2005.

Paul Smith Leeds

Fashion designer Paul Smith has opened a new 3 storey shop in the Leeds Victoria Quarter shopping centre, in a large expansion programme they’ve also opening stores in St Petersburg, Istanbul, Johannesburg and Cape Town. Make growth is clearly on the plans and we’ll be sure to contact about part time jobs in their stores.

Wakefield Contruction Jobs

Wakefield’s Trinity Walk scheme has finally gone under construction, nine years after Simons Developments took on the project. The £200m scheme will include a new market hall, library, supermarket and up to 50 retail units. Debenhams, Next, H&M, New Look and Sainsbury’s have already signed up to the scheme.

Construction is due to finish in 2010, so there are literally going to be thousands of contruction job opportunities and then thousands of retail positions too.
