Shell live wire free busines advice

Fancy yourself as the next young entrepreneur but missed out on the latest series of the Dragons Den and live in the east of Scotland you should head over to the Big Enterprise Experience. The free workshop, for 16-30 year olds, is being run by Shell Live WIRE on April 29 at the Adam Smith College’s Brycedale Campus in Kirkcaldy in Fife.

The workshop will help visitors develop enterprise skills, discover new opportunities, test business ideas and network with enterprise experts. Places are limited so to book now (it is free) call 0845 757 3252.

IT jobs to be created

IT and technology company Wipro is set to create hundreds of new jobs when it opens a new facility near London. It is planning a new software development facility in the south-east, probably outside London.

Wipro plans to increase the number of jobs at its Reading base by 200 to reach full capacity. It will then look to open another delivery centre in the UK, at a location yet to be decided but current considerations include Birmingham, Warwick and Edinburgh. It is thought the office will be opened in the next two years.

St James shopping centre lands another four stores

JD, Hawins Bazaar, Bank Fashion and Poundland are due to open before Christmas at the St James shopping centre in Edinburgh. The centre is anchored by John Lewis, Topshop, Next, River Island and HMW. Plenty of part time and seasonal jobs available there, check back in January for all their latest jobs.

Travelodge reach out to the long term unemployed

Travelodge has a scheme guaranteeing training in hospitality and job interviews to the long-term unemployed.

The scheme was a success when piloted at its newest Travelodge in London at its City Road branch, it will now be offered at all its new hotels.

Travelodge plans to open six hotels in December, at Cockermouth in Cumbria, Great Yarmouth, Caerphilly, Edinburgh, Falkirk, and Heathrow Airport’s new terminal T5. With 10 more planned for 2008. Interested? Contact your local Jobcentre

Footwear retailer Duo Boots has opened stores in Edinburgh, Manchester and Amsterdam, they specialise in boots tailored to different calf sizes and it a strong online presense, they also have flagship stores in Bath and Saville Row.
