Primark signs up to open in Willow Place Shopping Centre, Corby

Primark have signed to Willow Place as part of their anchor retail stores, the shopping centre in Corby town centre opened in October last year.

The developer is also looking to sign other major high street retails to join TK Maxx, New Look, Evans, Dorothy Perkins, Burton, River Island, Evans, and Jane Norman who are already in place in Corby.

Primark will add value shopping in addition to the already strong fashion offering at Willow Place. It is the first time that Corby has enjoyed such a strong concentration of major high street retailers in a single location.

Credit card company cuts jobs

Barclycard is to cut 160 jobs in Northampton when it closes its credit card production. It has announced that it is to shut down its card production and statement mailing centre in Northampton.

Print production is going to be outsourced to RR Donnelley in Buckinghamshire and Gloucestershire, with mailing operations moved to Leicestershire and card operations will be moving to Hampshire.

Operations will continue at Bewer House until the end of the year and employees will then recieve a further three months on full pay so they can find alternative emploment.

Christmas Jobs

Christmas recruitment is in full swing as companies look to fill vacancies for the Christmas jobs, with employers across the country hunting for seasonal workers.

In Northampton, companies including Royal Mail and retailers from the Grosvenor Centre have teamed up with Jobcentre Plus to hold a recruitment event every day from today until September 28 between 10am and 3pm, at the Jobcentre Plus office in Lower Mounts.
