New Look and River Island expand into the WestQuay shopping centre

River Island is opening a new store at the WestQuay shopping centre in Southampton, New Look is to also looking at a move to the centre and we believe this will be at the former Waitrose store location.

WestQuay’s shopping centre will also have a range of catering jobs at their food hall as a number of new eateries are opening including Hotel Chocolat and Julian Graves the UK’s largest independent specialist natural food and ingredients retailer. Already open is the South’s largest Pret a Manger and SumoSalad.

Investment in Manufacturing - Cars

There is more good news in the car industry. After investment of about £125m by its parent company, the Nissan Qashqai finally rolled off the production line. This is the first Nissan product designed, engineered and built in the UK. It’s competitors are also spending money and investing. Ford has just invested £129m at its Southampton plant for the production of the new Ford Transit, also designed and developed in this country. All this activity is creating a wealth of vacancies at all levels of manufacturing and industry.

It has been quoted that we are experiencing the busiest time for a decade across the whole of the UK’s automotive industry. More jobs for everyone involved!

Wi-Fi on the buses

Passengers using a Southampton bus route can now check their emails, download music to their i-pods and surf the internet whilst on the move. One of the double decker buses regularly used on the uni-links U1 route has been fitted Wi-Fi equipment for a 20 day trial. It seems now wherever you go you can get internet acces, whether it be to surf the net, check the latest news and sport or search for part-time and temp jobs.

If this trial goes well they plan to fit the rest of the buses on the uni route with Wi-Fi equipment later in the summer. What do you think to this, a good idea?
