There has been conflicting jobs news in the high tech and ecommerce world this week as Yahoo has announced cuts across its global workforce in an effort to reduce cost to keep up with competitors whilst Skype, the Microsoft business, has annonced that it will be hiring staff for new jobs across 5 major global cities.
BSkyB is creating more than 1,000 jobs to cope with a recent growth in business.
It is hiring an extra 600 engineers and 350 callcentre workers to deal with customer services, plus 100 managers and staff trainers. Details emerged after the company revealed it had signed up 171,000 new subscribers in the last three months, taking the total to 9.25 million.
We all do it, so there should be no surprise that we still spend a great deal of time in front of the box even with the advent of new technologies. The biggest change to effect this media space is that we are no longer completely absorbed by tv as we our now giving our attention to texting, surfing the net or on the phone.
3/4 of 20-34 yr olds regularly use their mobile whilst the TV is on, whilst more than a third check the internet.
Firstly consider that the web is less than 5,000 days old, now consider what could happen over the next 5,000 days!!!
