2000 Travelodge Jobs

Fancy working by the seaside? Hotel chain Travelodge is creating 2,000 new jobs in the next 18 months by opening 70 new hotels, including many at beach resorts.

The next openings, planned for this summer, are in Brighton, Worthing and Lowestoft, followed by Torquay and Blackpool later in the year. Other launches include Tunbridge Wells, Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff Bay.

Each hotel requires managers, receptionists, bar and cafe staff and guest room cleaners.

Whitbread to create jobs.

Whitbread group that owns both Premier Inn and Costa Coffee saw profits up 26% for the year to the end of February. There are certainly no signs of a downturn as evidence from the hospitality, retail and leisure sectors shows a healthy sector. Premier Inn is expected to grow 50% and Costa Coffee will double in size to 2000 outlets. Jobs will be created across the UK as these businesses formulate their growth plans.

Wandsworth rejuvenation.

The plans have been released for the regeneration of the Wandsworth towns Ram brewery. Youngs have now totally vacated the historical site and the proposed plans will bring a wealth of retail, leisure and restaurant facilites supported by some residential flats. The vast area will create many new jobs in construction, retail, hospitality, security and council sectors.

Hilton cleans up their act

A big congratulations to Hilton International who have cancelled contracts with three well known (but unnamed) contract agencies after an investigation discovered illegal practices.

Some of the companies were providing housekeeping staff were getting around minimum hourly wage laws by paying cleaners on a per room basis.

Hospitality Jobs in Manchester 2008

It may be a a while away but at the end of next summer, a new ski centre is due to be opening in Manchester, next to the Traford Centre. It will be the biggest indoor ski slope in England. The developers are already marketing the venture and as such restaurant chains have been invited to show their interest in opening outlets.

The developers want to include an Italian/pizza restaurant, a noodle bar, an American-style diner, an ice cream parlour, a sandwich shop/deli, a chicken restaurant and a bar which wil all arranged on a Alpine-themed street. The concept sounds fantastic……
