An NHS Career?

The NHS career site aimed 14-19 year olds has recently won an industry effectiveness award for their new website. The site was designed to engage young people and help promote the NHS as a possible employer, the site is simple and easy to use and gets the point across in a relaxed and easy manner.

You can try the personality quiz which tests your outlook to healthcare jobs or watch videos in their diary room, read about case studies of other young people who have started a career in the NHS. Well worth a look if you are thinking about this profession.

Naked cleaners

Fancy a cleaning job with a difference, it pays £10 an hour but you do have to be naked! Both men and women can apply at the Southampton JobCentre Plus.

Staff will need to do washing, ironing and hoovering, in nothing but a pinny. Other cleaning jobs at the jobcentre pay £6 an hour, perhaps this is more of a summer job though!

Avon jobs

Avon calling! The cosmetics company has launched a recruitment drive to find 1,000’s of new field sales reps across the UK. They were once called Avon Ladies, but that no longer applies as the company says five per cent of the 170,000 reps already working in the UK are men.

Reps are self-employed and can be any age over 18. They work at any level they choose - from those earning £1 for every £5 of products they sell to friends and families in their sparetime to becoming one of the top achievers. Some businesses have a turnover of £2million and these reps are invited to join the President’s Club with its extra incentives and perks such as invitations to gala dinners.

Healthcare jobs created

The opening of a new care home in Shropshire could create up to 100 new jobs . The devlopment on the £6.5 millon nursing home is set to start later this year.

Coverage Care will need to employ about 100 part-time and full-time staff if the project gets approval from Shropshire district council.

NHS installs new employment checks….

The NHS will introduce tough new employment checks for all staff from 1st April 2008.

Some six booklets will contain all the information you need to know in regard to what standards employers must meet to comply to both legislation and NHS policy. The six areas of pre-employment checking include verification of identity, right to work, registration and qualification, employment history and references, criminal records checks and occupational health checks.

It is estimated that respective HR depatments will find these new checks particularly tough (particularly on their time!) when it comes to the vast number of temporary staff and students that the NHS employs annually.
