New High St. bank, new jobs

Metro Bank opened its doors a couple of weeks ago in London’s Holborn, they’re now recruiting for a range of positions, including cashiers, managers and customer service representatives.

These positions will be available in their branches which are set to open in Earl’s Court and Fulham Broadway in London, and Borehamwood, Hertfordshire at the end of the summer.

Metro Bank is looking for talented people with retail experience. Banking experience is a bonus but not essential as full training will be provided.

Financial recruitment specialist Advantage Professional recently reported that “four in 10 finance sector employers say management accountant roles are the most difficult to fill.

Apparently financial and business analysis were among the most required skills.

BANKING giant Santander has launched a new graduate recruitment scheme

BANKING giant Santander has launched a new graduate recruitment scheme which this year plans to take on around 230 people. The recruits will learn about a variety of areas including finance, telephone distribution, audit, human resources and, new this year, corporate banking.

The bank says all recruits receive formal and on-the-job training and are also invited to take part in Santander’s community programme, which uses charity challenges to develop team building and organisational skills.

Newham regeneration creates thousands of jobs

Regeneration projects in the London borough of Newham will create more than 62,000 jobs by 2025. The council is working hard to ensure that Newham residents will benefit from the opportunities that arise.

The regeneration of Newham is creating employment opportunity and growth in construction, retail, tourism, hospitality, leisure, finance, business, health and social care.

Typical jobs will include jobs in Logistics, General construction and Project management for Plumber’s, Electricians and Civil Engineers as an example.

Employment figures on the rise

New figures from Powerchex, the pre-employment screening firm for financial services, show a 2% rise in the number of job offers raising hopes of a lasting economic recovery.

Investment banks, hedge funds and stockbrokerage firms specifically showed significant increases in recruitment from previous months, with investment banks leading the war on talent by increasing their offers by 15%.

Job gains were also seen in the IT contractor market! Mush of this was due to the New Year seeing the on set of projects that has been sidelined due to the recession.
