It is thought that some 500,000 temporary employment contracts could be terminated due to the Agency Worker Regulations (AWR) coming into force in October.
Work by Allen & Overy reveals that 33% of medium to large UK businesses might avoid increased costs by terminating agency worker contracts before the 1st October when the 12-week qualifying period for equal pay and benefits starts.

According to fundraising recruiter The Kage Partnership, Fundraising salaries grew by an average of 2.8% in 2008.
The Kage Partnership publishes it’s Fundraising Salary Report each year and 2008 showed good salary increases in salaries at manager level and at director / head of fundraising level.
New research indicates that jobs in the public sector are becoming more popular due to the recession. England’s Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) has shown that there has been a 40% increase in recruitment enquiries for jobs in teaching, the civil service and the charitable sector.
