Etihad Airways plan to set up a major new contact centre in Manchester.
The city is appatently one of several bidding to operate the European facility for Etihad Airways, which could create 200 call & contact centre jobs.
The company is opening a new 318 sq m dedicated lounge at Manchester Airport during 2011, which will generate employment opportunities and will feature facilities such as a prayer room, a business centre and a bathroom.

Tesco Bank is to create 1,000 new jobs in Newcastle. The bank has agreed to establish a customer service centre in the city. Recruitment will start early in 2010 with the first 500 roles.
The new jobs will manage customer sales and service for Tesco Bank’s home and motor insurance customers.

A couple of hundred new jobs will be created in Birmingham by the baking giant HSBC. HSBC announced that it was consolidating nine offices across the UK into just two in Birmingham.
The jobs boost will lead to several hundred jobs being created in their credit card and collections operations. It will almost ceretainly lead to temporary jobs in the early period of 2010.
