Public sector needs IT staff

IT recruitment firm Computer People runs an employment monitoring system that has shown that IT recruitment is up almost 6% in the public sector. Despite the consistent job cuts in the sector it would seem that IT staff are still needed to work on vital projects. The IT industry is one of the biggest and most lucrative temporary employment markets in the UK. Although this news is very slight in the grand scheme of things it is still positive news and most probably down to the new budgets that have been released since April.

2010 - the year of the Part Timer

I recently read that 200,000 jobs were created last year but that only 3% of those jobs were actually full time. That is a staggering statistic - 97% of jobs were part time! How times have changed. Historically, finding a part time job has been really touch and very competitive. I still believe that that is the case although these figures suggest the peoples mind sets must be changing a bit!

Steel plant to buck a trend with temporary workforce

The construction industry in the North East of England will buck the trend as the TCP plant in Redcar will rely on hundreds of temporary workers to get it operating again.

Some 1,500 temporary staff (engineers, platers, welders, pipe - fitters, riggers and electricians) will be needed in Teeside. A number of workers have started but the site will need many more temps in the next month.
