The retail market received positive news as the high street continues to wobble. John Lewis is to double new graduate positions in 2011 in an effort to build a talent pipeline.
The recruitment process to find the best graduate hires for the retail giant is currently under way. They will be offering 32 places potential applicants. This is great news for a graduate market that has been so badly hit in the last 18 months.
Tesco is thought to be hiring 9,000 new staff across the UK. Part of continued growth across Europe, Tesco will be creating 9,000 new jobs in call centres, distribution centres and the Tesco Bank.
M&S need to hire 20,000 temporary staff for the Christmas season - they are seeking “friendly, motivated and enthusiastic” temporary employees in their UK and Ireland stores.
More often than not the UK follows the US in economic market activity and currently demand for temporary workers in the US is thought to be on the rise in the fourth quarter of 2010. If the UK market does mirror the US then it is likely that we will see an increase in temporary employment for the rest of 2010. This would make sense given many organisations are easing back on permanent hires at the moment.
Disneyland Paris is looking to fill 6,000 roles for next year for permanent, short-term and seasonal positions in a variety of roles including guest services, food and beverage, sales and attractions.
Recruitment events will be held in London and Cardiff.
The London event will be held on Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th October at the Hilton London Metropole from 10am each day, while the event in Cardiff will be at City Hall from 10am on the 27 October .
