It looks like Drinks Giant Diageo is set to cut upto 900 jobs in its distillery at Port Dundas in Glasgow. The distillery has been producing whiskey since 1810, closures include warehouse operations and their packaging plant. However 400 jobs will be created in Fife through the expansion of their packaging plant there.
Marks and Spencer jobs are secure as Stuart Rose reports better than expected sales performance, better than the previos quarter and a lower decline than the 2.5% expected by the city. Stuart said “The consumer confidence appeared to be stabilsing”, but warned to remain cautious for the remainder of the year.

British Gas is to create 2,600 new jobs as it prepares for the roll-out of a new ‘mart’ meter. The centre will open in Leicester which will train the new 2,100 engineers. We will keep you posted when we hear of the vacancies.
