Pre-employment firm Powercheck found that job offers to IT contractors in the financial services sector doubled between April and May 2009. It has offered hope to contractors and recruiters alike!! The research also found employment offers increased in insurance and banking.

Charities are still struggling to attract the best people into the Third sector because they do not have the budget to pay the salaries that these people expect!
Whether people wholley admit it or not, charity work may allow people to make a difference or change their work life balance but cash is still a very key factor to Third sector employees.
The TUC suggested that the jobs outlook is as bleak as during the 1980s recession. Personnel Today reported recently that in a report comparing offical unemployment figures with those of the 1980s and 1990s, the TUC identified that the gap between the numbers of people losing their jobs and those finding new ones is currently greater than during the 1990s recession.
Two major automotive manufacturers plan to create jobs even though production is down by over 50%!
McLaren is to build a new plant, creating approximately 800 jobs and Rolls-Royce is employing a futher 150 workers at its factory in West Sussex. It is as yet unknown whether all these roles will be permanent or whether some may be contract or temporary.
