Unemployment reaches highest level since 1997

Unemployment has reached its highest level since Labour came to power in 1997. 2.1 million people will be out of work. It is the biggest rise in unemployment since 1991 which reflects the vast number of redundancies being seen across industry. The financial services sector continues to be the bearer of bad news with Lloyds Banking Group and RSA Insurance each shedding staff.

Swinton jobs at Norwich call centre

High street insurer Swinton has launched a recruitment drive to find more than 250 new staff for its Norwich call centre. It needs 224 outbound sales advisers, 30 internet sales advisers and seven team managers. Full and part-time positions are available including evening shifts, ideal for students or those trying to supplement their daytime jobs.
