Job vacancies fall in the City of London

The number of job vacancies in the City of London fell by 34% last month compared with the same period a year ago, according to Morgan Mickinley, the financial recruitment specialists. The fallout from the credit crunch is far from over and following the collapse of Lehman brothers many Believe there is worse to come over the coming months and maybe even years.

UK growth set to slump

According to research out yesterday from the CBI UK growth will slump to its lowest level in 17 years. It has cut is growth forecasts and now expects overall growth in 2008 of 1.1%, down from 1.7% and in 2009 it is forecating growth of just 0.3%. It expects the economy to shrink in the second half of this year confirming we are in a recession.
