Tesco has announced it will create more than 350 new jobs across Northern Ireland this year.
Some of the jobs will be in Ballymena where it opens a new store next month. It has also announced plans to expand its store at Knocknagoney in east Belfast.
A cost cutting exercise at the University of Southampton has put hundreds of jobs under threat. The move comes after a money saving review, but the number of cuts will not be known until the 23rd October.
Recent figures from the search engine AllTheTopBananas.com has shown that the average UK advertised salary is £31,128, compared with London’s average advertised salary of £41,500. It means that the average advertised salary in London is now £10,000 more than the rest of the UK. The lowest salary nationally was found in the North West where the figure was £29,676.
This year’s Consultancy Careers Fair is at The Barbican and will be held in the evening of Thursday 9th October and throughout the day of Friday 10th October. Fifty consulting organisations will field more than 500 recruiters. The line-up includes three of the “Big Four” firms, some of the fastest growing Indian consultancies, major brands such as Accenture, IBM and EDS. German utility E.ON has announced it plans to cut 400 jobs in the UK. E.ON said it would make the cuts in its UK energy services business, which connets homes and businesses to the power and gas networks and installs energy efficiency measures in homes.
The job losses are a result of a downturn in the property market and the company has not ruled out the possibility of further cuts.
