REC joins temps regulation debate

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has finally shared it’s thoughts on the continued debate over regulations that the government is threatening to introduce. They have called on the government to halt the introduction of more regulations that could impact on the recruitment industry in a number of ways. The threat comes from European directives on agency workers. An REC spokesman has suggested that the directives must be implemented in a way that has minimal effect on the currently successful temporary and contract recruitment market.

Asia’s success seen and felt in UK industry

The continued success and globalisation of Asian industry has brought or even maintained employment across the UK. It is estimated that Indian businesses have created some 19,000 new jobs in Britain over the last year. This figure does not include the 14,000 jobs that were saved at Jaguar and Land Rover when the Indian engineering firm Tata Motors acquired them.

Canadian firm creates jobs in Northern Ireland

Canadian aerospace firm Bombardier is investing £500m in the Belfast area to manufacture a new range of fuel-efficient jet. It is thought that this huge investment into the area will create hundreds of jobs.

Number of people looking for work is on the up….

The number of vacancies in London saw a 9% increase in June 2008 compared to May this year.
In tandem with this, the number of candidates looking for jobs has also increased by about 6%. This means that the total number of jobhunters is currently 17% higher than in 2007.

Jobseekers are taking an average of c.60 days to secure a new position primarily because clients are taking longer to complete jobs. This increased time is a good time to consider temp work as an interim.

Pizza Express and Frankie and Benny’s jobs in Wrexham

Pizza Express and Frankie & Benny’s will join leisure anchor tenants Odeon and Tenpin at Wilson Bowden Developments Eagles Meadow retail and leisure scheme in Wrexham ahead of its opening in October.

With only 4 months to go before the launch of the scheme on October 30th they will be sure to be looking for catering staff and waiting staff in time for their launch. We will try and get these listings on the site as soon as they become available.
