Aviva-owned Norwich Union Insurance are to cut up to 1,800 jobs over the next two years. The redundancies were a necessary part of a major restructuring of its insurance operations.
The jobs will go in NUI’s custormer operations unit, which has 7,000 staff and covers claim processing, sales and other services.
The operations will be withdrawn from Dundee, Glasgow, Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, Cheadle, Birmingham, Bristol, Southampton, Basildon, Ipswich, Exeter and Worthing.
The majority of Aviva’s insurance business will be brought together at seven “centres of excellence” in Norwich, Perth, Bishopbriggs, Stretford, Manchester, Leicester and Sothend.
