Sous Chef needed in Putney

Green Man PutneyHave you ever fancied working in one of the prettiest parts of London? Well the Green Man in Putney is looking for a Sous Chef.

Dating back to somewhere around 1700, the Green Man on Putney Heath stands on an old duelling spot. The pub was often the refuge for the contestants after the battles.

Putney Heath
is also notorious for its history of Highwayman, rumour has it that Dick Turpin once stashed his guns in the upstairs room. Other robbers supposedly watched their intended victims taking refreshment in the pub before going after them once they resumed their journey across the heath.

But there’s no danger of any highwaymen these days, just a cosy welcoming pub with a landscaped garden, great beers and a scrumptious menu. Also BBQ’s at the weekend.

Where they started!

This is a little light hearted fun but did you know where these celebrities first started and many of them in temp jobs….

Kathy Bates : Worked in a gift shop at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Gerald Ford : Began as a fashion model, even making the cover of Cosmo Magazine

Courtney Cox-Arquette : Before her ‘Friends’ days Courtney was a spokesperson for Tampax and was the first person in the US to say ‘period’ in an advert.

Whoopi Goldberg : Used to be a bricklayer.

David Jason : was an electrician.

Sean Connery : was a coffin polisher.

Danny DeVito : trained as a hairdresser.

From acorns do mighty oaks grow, keep your dreams alive and work your way to the top whilst staying in temp employment.

Teachers amongst the most watched employees

Teachers are amongst the most scrutinised professionals. As well as being watched regularly by their head of departments and visits by Ofsted they are also judged on exam results and receive feedback daily from parents and students alike.

Did you know what is involved with dismissing a teacher though? A head teacher who is worried about a teacher must firstly initiate an informal procedure and offer counselling and advice, followed by a second formal procedure, if there is no improvement then further observation and target setting is set in motion for no longer than two terms. Again if there is no further improvement a further final warning needs to be given, if there is still no improvement the teacher can be dismissed or encouraged to resign.

The formal procedure of last resort is a referral to GTC (General Teaching Council) for England. All teachers in England are required to register and must renew annually.

What are your thoughts on how this could effect the education of your children?
