Fashion designer Paul Smith has opened a new 3 storey shop in the Leeds Victoria Quarter shopping centre, in a large expansion programme they’ve also opening stores in St Petersburg, Istanbul, Johannesburg and Cape Town. Asda is investing £12 million in a seasonal reward package for its 160,000 staff at their 347 stores and distribution centres across the UK. They are giving each of their staff a £20 xmas gift voucher to spend in its stores…. Well tap my bottom!
The long term unemployed and single parents will be forced into work or into training in plans unveiled by the Government. Unemployment benefit claimants who refuse to attend skills training after six months on the dole would have their benefits axed.
A skilles screening test will be launched to identify numeracy, literacy and language problems which could prevent employment, also incapacity claimants under 25 will be subject to more rigorous measures to get them back in work.
