Employment rates in the north seem to be on the up with vast improvements seen over the last year. In cities such as Milton Keynes, Derby, Doncaster and Sunderland the increases in employment figures have seen increases in spending in all these areas. The increase in jobs means greater opportunity and although these figures are great for the respective regions, the unemployment figures are still up on the national average so there is plenty still to be done.
We’ve written a few things about Facebook recruitment potential in the past, has it gone full circle now. I know for one that I used to check the site a couple of times a day but now I check at best once a month. I used to have some personal information up there, but now I’ve left the bare minimum on the site, if someone contacted me about a job I’d probably be too late anyway!!
So as an employer would you be scared off by finding out what your staff get upto at the weekends and more importantly should you really have access to that information, at what point do you turn off and what can you define as crossing the line on intrusion. It’s an interesting debate, I recently came across this video on youtube and thought it was an interesting look at just how crazy people get about Facebook and how pointless 99% of the news is…. ie its not news!!!
