Ridings shopping centre in Wakefield has unveiled plans for a £25m revamp. Proposals include a 100,000-sq ft extension, re-designed entrances, a re-designed food court, a new café and other aesthetic improvements. If approved, work is expected to take place during the course of 2008 nad hundreds of new full time and part time jobs in Wakefield.
The plans include a three storey extension to the centre, on land located between Rodney Yard and the existing service yard entrance of Southgate. This extension will allow existing businesses to expands and attract new ones to Wakefield.
The makeover will give the existing centre a clena and new look, with imposing new entrances that will use glass and natural light to enhance the shopping environment and improve interaction between the centre and the public realm.
