The Cheltenham racecourse holds a gold cup event every March is one of the national hunts biggest events, spread over four days with over 200,000 racegoers attending each year bringing massive amounts of jobs to the area. Not only is it a great event for all those attending but it also brings a huge amount of income into the area, not just at the racecourse but also in the town as well, with many people staying in Cheltenham for the four days.
This obvioulsy creates a huge number of part time and temp jobs in the area, whether it be working in one of the bars at the racecourse or in the tented villages, working as a steward or car park attendant or working at one of the pubs or restaurants in the town or one of the many hotels in the surrounding areas. So this event is great opportunity for students in the area to get a part time or temp job and earn some extra money.
This is not the only event to be held at the racecourse over the year, there are 16 race meetings a year at the course including the Gold cup, with the other major meeting being the Paddy Power Gold cup in November with over 65,000 racegoers. The racecourse also host a number of other events over the year including dinners, balls and confrences. So the racecourse provides an all year round opportunity for part time and temp jobs for people in the area.
